...where did the Jungle Scene go?

Well I don't know where you have been however it's been here the whole time. One of the things that I notice is the lack of overall community. The good people who show up to rock out at every show possible and bring the vibe with them. Here at NorthWestJungle.com we plan to bring that group together so that it can grow and influence the newcomers in a positive and sustainable way. The first step was to create the website and allow it to grow to where it is today. Now we would like to start introducing the local groups and events that make up the best part of this music. NWJ is even getting involved with event promotion with some of the most prominent groups on the island in order to help shape this idea into the reality it deserves.

...what exactly is this Jungle Music?

Drum and bass (A.K.A. DnB) is a type of electronic dance music known as "Jungle". It's fast paced stuff and keep in mind there are many different scenes and styles within the genre. Hard hitting sounds such as Ragga jungle, Dark or Techstep and Neurofunk. That can be too much for some however there is also an Intellegent more Jazzy side to Jungle's lounge life which can be found in Liquidfunk, Jump-Up and Jazzstep. In regards to the terms Drum and Bass/Jungle it's a matter of opinion althogh both names are synonymous and pretty much interchangeable just like the music.

...can I get a Amen, brother?

Those of you at NorthWestJungle.com with an interested in dnb or Electronic Music must know about the Amen break. If you don't you had better ask somebody. It's a funny story about a B-side track released by The Winstons in 1969. One song that helped to effectively influence music today and become arguably the most sampled record of all time.

...Dubstep what?

With roots in UK garage reggae, 2-Step and Grime. Dubstep is a fairly new genre developed on the B-sides of whitelabel garage releases and one-off reggae-style dubplates. Many DJs and production artists have recently been incorporating dubstep into their sound. With a structure similar to that used in drum and bass and a fresh underground scene this music seriously deserves our attention.
